MAKING APPOINTMENTS
After analysing our recent patient questionnaire we have amended
the appointments system. There are now a number of pre bookable
appointments up to 4 weeks ahead in every surgery plus some appointments
to be opened up 3 working days in advance. Some routine appointments
may still be available for the same day but any urgent on the day
appointments are given out by our Triage Nurse. This we hope will
offer a bit more flexibility and allow patients to plan their visit
to the doctor at a more convenient time.
You will always be offered an appointment with a GP of your choice,
nevertheless, where an appointment is not available for two or three
days you may wish to consider an earlier one with an alternative
doctor. If you require an appointment sooner than the receptionist
can offer, you will be put through to our Triage Nurse who is trained
to assess your request. She may be able to deal with your problem
directly herself or refer you to the most appropriate member of
the healthcare team and if she feels that you require an urgent
appointment with a GP she will arrange an appointment for the same
day at a time when a doctor is available. Unfortunately these appointments
are at specific times and they may not be your usual doctor.
If you think you require an urgent appointment please phone the
surgery first thing in the morning (08:00 am) or as soon as possible.
The Practice is very aware of the number of appointments wasted
every week by patients who do not attend or fail to cancel an appointment,
we will be monitoring the new system to ensure there is not a rise
in failed to attend appointments. Please cancel unwanted appointments.
Wasted appointments mean longer waiting times for all patients.
